Why I Love Art.
When people make a first impression of me they do not see me as an artist at all, they see me as the cross country running lacrosse player that has had senioritis since freshman year or the guy with really long and poofy hair. But see, that is what I love most about art. It is the fact that virtually anyone has the ability to do it with the right amount of patience and open creativity.
Art did not start to play a big role in my life until late junior year, I had taken art classes in the past but was never very good at it (especially drawing). But, once I began doing photography in these classes is when things really began to take off. I instantly fell in love with the concept of photography and the different story each photo can tell from person to person. My entire AP DMA concentration was based off of photography, more specifically, photos taken in abandoned buildings with the idea of using a model to help contrast the destruction of the building to the beauty of the model. This entire project is what helped me come to realize that photography is actually a huge passion of mine and I plan on pursuing it throughout college and beyond into the real world.
As I finish my chapter in high school, I will be beginning a new story next year at Wittenberg University where I will be playing lacrosse and going for a minor in Studio Art with a concentration of photography. I still have no idea what I will be majoring in… more than likely something wicked that will give me the ability to retire at age 34 and travel the world as I wish. But, no matter where I end up in life, I know that art will be something I will continue to create magical works in and help me chase my dreams. A person finding a love for art may not change the world, but for that person, the world may change.
